The next edition of International Civil Society Week (ICSW), the flagship event bringing together and celebrating global civil society, will be held 1–5 November 2025. CIVICUS global civil society alliance and Asia Democracy Network, the co-organizers, will hold the event in Bangkok.
Celebrating citizen action: reimagining democracy, rights, and inclusion for today’s world
The 2025 edition’s key theme will be Celebrating citizen action: reimagining democracy, rights, and inclusion for today’s world.
ICSW pays tribute to activists, movements, and civil society achieving significant progress, defending civic freedoms, and showing remarkable resilience despite the many challenges.
The event comes at a time when civic freedoms are being curtailed in most countries, with civil society under severe attack in 116 of 198 countries and territories. The world faces significant deterrents to freedoms of expression, association, and assembly.
Let’s dream bigger – be more imaginative, adaptable, and resilient to build a better world for everyone.
OUR PROJECTS
Various and initiatives that use education as a tool to empower individuals and communities, fostering hope for a better future. These initiatives often focus on providing educational opportunities in challenging circumstances, such as poverty, crisis, or natural disasters. The concept highlights the transformative power of education to break cycles of poverty, improve health and well-being, and create positive change.
OUR PROJECTS
Rapid response in crisis zones refers to the swift provision of humanitarian aid and support to affected populations at the onset of an emergency or the escalation of an existing crisis. This involves a coordinated effort to deliver essential services like shelter, food, water, sanitation, and medical care, often within the first few days or weeks of the crisis.
OUR PROJECTS
Empowering through training involves equipping people with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to excel in their roles and contribute meaningfully to their organization or society. This goes beyond traditional job-specific training, focusing on autonomy, personal growth, and problem-solving. Training programs can enhance performance, boost satisfaction and retention and foster adaptability.
OUR PROJECTS
Food parcel distribution is the process of providing pre-packaged food supplies to individuals or families in need, often through charities, aid organizations, or government programs. These parcels are designed to offer a short-term solution to food insecurity, complementing other forms of assistance. The contents of the parcels can vary, but typically include staples like pasta, rice, tinned goods, and other non-perishable items
OUR PROJECTS
Your support can help fund life-saving treatments, bridging the financial gap for individuals and families in crisis.
OUR PROJECTS
Cultural heritage, collective memory, and identity are intertwined concepts that shape how individuals and groups understand themselves and their place in the world. Cultural heritage provides the material and symbolic resources for constructing collective memories, which in turn, inform and reinforce individual and group identities. This interplay is dynamic and constantly evolving, as societies reinterpret their past to make sense of the present and shape their future.
OUR ACHIEVEMENTS
Training courses, specialized education, support for Food Parcel Distribution, encouraging small community initiatives, building international partnerships in line with HLRSC, developing civil society and NGO networks, and joining sector-specific networks to strengthen collaboration and impact.
ICAD’s Independent Monitoring & Evaluation Unit (IM&E) provides impartial oversight and reporting for humanitarian, development, and safety-related projects in volatile or fragile environments. Acting as a neutral third party, we ensure that programs are implemented according to international standards, delivering real results in the field with transparency, accountability, and measurable impact, and providing credible outcomes that build trust between donors, implementers, and communities.
Our focus:
- Field verification in volatile or hard-to-reach areas.
- Community feedback and beneficiary engagement.
- Remote monitoring (GIS, satellite, local networks).
- Independent, evidence-based reporting.
- Risk and compliance checks.
Why it matters:
In fragile economies and complex environments, where corruption, conflict, or restricted access undermines credibility, independent monitoring builds trust, transparency, and accountability between donors, implementers, and communities.
